I just put together this video clip to memorialize a painful page of our country Vietnam's history. I own none of the copyrights for the the pictures or music in this video -

Saigon was taken over by the North Vietnamese Communists on April 30th, 1975. Immediately, thousands of South Vietnamese educated citizens and scholars were executed or imprisoned. Hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese government officials and military officers were sent to concentration camps. The families of these prisoners were forced to relocate to inhospitable scrublands called New Economic Zones. Millions of people fled the country by boat and land.

Now, 41 years later, the political and economic policies of Vietnam remain controlled by the Communist regime, but a new twist has been added. It is now called a 'socialist-oriented market economy'. There is no government support seen for any of the thousands of amputees and blinded veterans from the war in the south.
